My name is Abdirizak and I am the IT Manager at Al Huda School in Somalia, I am constantly faced with the challenge of managing resources efficiently while ensuring that our students have access to quality technology. One of the biggest hurdles came when we received a generous donation of 10 computers from a charitable organization. With more than 20 students in each class, it quickly became clear that we needed another 10 or 15 computers to accommodate everyone. Unfortunately, our budget simply didn’t allow for the purchase of 10 additional machines.
Determined to find a solution, I began researching alternatives. I tested over 10 different software programs that promised to extend the capabilities of our existing hardware, but none met our school’s needs until I discovered ASTER. This software stood out for its ability to turn a single computer into two independent workstations, each running separately from the same CPU.

After thoroughly testing ASTER in my office, I presented the idea to our principal. Instead of buying 10 more computers, we could invest in keyboards, mice and monitors and use ASTER to create two workstations from one CPU. This decision saved our school a significant amount of money while making the most of the equipment we already had.
The main benefit of ASTER is its efficiency. Not only did it save us money by reducing the number of computers we needed to purchase, but it also saved space in our classrooms and reduced power consumption. With fewer CPUs running, our energy consumption dropped, helping the school become more sustainable.
But ASTER has its challenges. The need for high-spec computers to effectively run multiple workstations can be a financial burden, especially for schools like ours that work with limited resources. In addition, because ASTER allows sharing of the Internet connection, good Internet speed is important for classes that require Internet browsing.

Finding ASTER was a game changer for our school. It allowed us to provide a better learning environment for our students without breaking our budget. While there are some challenges, the overall benefits of cost savings, space efficiency, and energy conservation make it a powerful tool for any school or organization looking to maximize their resources.
